Google’s $8B deal with CarRental Ireland opens new chapter for Google car rental
CarRentals, which also operates a fleet of cars in the United States, said it had signed a new $8 billion deal with Google to lease the vehicles.
The deal comes after Google was recently linked to the car rental company CarRents.
Google was reportedly the main bidder for the company but that deal was quickly shot down by the Irish Government.
Google’s deal with the Irish company comes as the country is looking to attract foreign investment and attract a more competitive car rental market.
CarRenters said it will retain CarRights’ technology to provide the most competitive car rentals in the market, adding it will also continue to work closely with Google on the technology.
