Woman claims to have lost £15,000 in Uber ride in UK

A woman in the UK claims she lost £25,000 from Uber in the last 24 hours, after a trip from London to Brighton took a total of 20 hours.

The post on Reddit claims that she had been travelling from her home in Essex to Brighton on Wednesday night when she realised she was not being charged for the Uber ride.

The woman, who does not want to be named, said she went on to use the app to find a taxi to take her to her destination in Brighton, and then tried to return home, only to find the ride was now out of her reach.

She said she has been unable to make contact with the company since, and that she has contacted the company and has not been able to receive any response.

She added: “I think the company should be held to a higher standard than Uber itself, and their service should not be seen as ‘just another taxi’ or ‘a service’ and should be taken as a whole, rather than just a service”.

Uber did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
